2005 Ford Mustang Specs & Details
All-new for 2005, Ford has reinvigorated the Mustang more than they have since the replacement for the Mustang II.
Gone are the rounded edges and bubbly look, now comes Ford’s homage to the Mustang that started it all back in the
1960s. The Mustang returns to its roots as a muscle car in design as opposed to the more sporting look given from
1994 until 2004 with long, flat sides, a flatter front end, and a silhouette straight out of the late 1960s. Ford
has essentially made the Mustang go back to its iconic roots in the best way possible.
Ford has revamped the car in regards to power, too. The base engine now is a 4 liter V6 that puts out 210 horsepower
and 240 lb-ft of torque, a welcome increase over the engine in the 2004 base model. With more power on tap and only
slightly more weight, the new entry-level Mustang performs better than any base model before. With this V6 being
available with either a five-speed manual or automatic, the V6 is incredibly engaging for what it is for the money.
The big talk of the new vehicle is the 4.6-liter single overhead cam 3-valve V8 which pushes out 300 horsepower.
Compared to the older 4.6 L 2-valve motor, the new one brings an extra 40 horsepower to the driver to fully enjoy
the car’s acceleration as well as its sonorous exhaust note. With the new body style, the rumbling and thunderous
3-valve V8 is a serious throwback to the original car. The new performance figures make the GT an incredibly
impressive car to drive with the close-ratio 5-speed manual gearbox and low center of gravity.
The 2005 Mustang brings the car into the future while keeping the past at the front of its design, making it an
all-around impressive vehicle both to look at and to drive. Whether just around town or on the race track, the 2005
Mustang is exactly what the Mustang name needed to return to. As the Mustang goes into a market competing with
Japanese and German sports coupes, the Mustang stands out as the only muscle car left in the American landscape. As
it sits, the Mustang is ready for the comeback of the century in today’s market.
