Throughout the legendary history of the Mustang, there have been many models that have helped make it
become the American automotive icon it is known for today. Born in the era of rebellion, the Mustang
only knows no bounds to its relentless pursuit of performance, sophistication, and racing pedigree. When
enthusiasts see those prominent lines, broad rear haunches, and signature twin fog lights, one thing
comes to mind is legendary American horsepower and design. Although all of these traits make the
Mustang so incredible, it could be nothing without its obvious color choices. Every generation of
Mustang
has offered enthusiasts the right amount of colors, to diversify the herd throughout the community. Upon launch of the S197 Mustang in 2005, every enthusiast was gearing up for what was known as the modern
retro pony, to pay homage to the original 60s era stallion. To enhance classic styling with its
fastback profile, broad rear haunches, and long hood, Ford knew it would have to step up the color
palette to give the Mustang faithful what it deserves. Throughout its decade long reign, the S197
brought back some of the most signature colors in Mustang history to give models the added punch of
styling and design it rightfully deserves. Below you will find Steeda's color and paint code guide for all the latest knowledge and keys to choose
the perfect color for your stallion. Whether you're shopping for your next
Mustang or need to pick up touch paint to fix those annoying rock chips, Steeda has you covered!
In the first year of the S197 Mustang, Ford took a conservative approach by offering ten colors
within the first year of 2005. As the generation went on, Mustang designers released a wide variety of
new colors that would only enhance the elegant and muscular lines of America's favorite pony car. Things
heated up even further when Ford reintroduced three legendary Mustang models in the Shelby GT500, Mustang Bullitt, and GT California Special. These three
icons harken back to the original muscle car era of style, class, and muscle was as paramount as America
and
apple pie. The reintroduction of these models meant Ford could take a punch to all competitors domestically to show
who has always
been the king of muscle cars. Colors such as Grabber Orange, Dark Highland Green, Performance White, and
Dark Candy Apple Red paid homage to the original stallions, which first graced the pony emblem.
Over ten years later, these colors are still revered by all Mustang enthusiasts alike, and as the
generation gets older, they can be quite harder to find. These reasons are what makes these colors so
special just as all of the colors you will find throughout the first phase of the S197 Mustang
generation. Below you will find a comprehensive list and detailed information on all of the colors throughout the
first five years of the retro pony.
Just as Mustang enthusiasts thought things couldn't get any better, Ford hit everyone with a
sledgehammer in the automotive community with the introduction of a mid-cycle refresh on what
was already the most excellent modern Mustang to date. In 2010, the Mustang received a
thoroughly revised front fascia, rear fascia, and more prominent fenders than the previous years
of S197. Furthermore, just as everyone among the Mustang community thought it couldn't get any
greater in 2010, Ford hit everyone with another bombshell with the return of the 5.0L Coyote V8
in 2011.
To put this in perspective, it helped the Mustang launch itself right back to the head of the
pack
amongst it Chevrolet and Mopar rivals. With that being said, Mustang designers unleashed the full potential of
color options to give American's pony car a racehorse from hell, appearance. Harkening back
to the original muscle car era, Ford knew it was time to bring back distinct colors such as
Grabber Blue found on the iconic Mustang Mach 1
and School Bus Yellow found on the iconic Parnelli
Jones Boss 302 Mustang. These colors helped make Mustang so iconic in the world of automotive design,
performance, and racing. Furthermore, it helped potential buyers find a more significant bond
with their pony because every color is attributed to an individual's personality and style. If you're in the market for a 2010-2014 Mustang or need to fix pesky paint chips on your front
