2009 Ford Mustang Specs & Details
Largely unchanged from the 2008 model year, the 2009 Mustang is still running strong before a teased redesign of the
car for 2010. With the reliable and torquey 3-valve V8, the 2009 Mustang is a blend of old-school muscle car sound
and style with modern luxury and technology in addition to still impressive performance figures with its 300
horsepower motor while celebrating its 45th anniversary on the market. The performance of the car, while not
phenomenal is still a definite presence on the road as it accelerates to 60 miles per hour in about 6 seconds. While
this is a decent speed, the motor is beginning to show its age against competition like the new 2009 Camaro.
Where the 2009 Mustang may lack slightly in performance, the car makes up for in sheer style and sound. With the
return of the Bullitt model for the second year in a row, the Mustang keeps its reigning position as one of the
coolest cars on the market. Finished in Dark Highland Green, the Bullitt is fitted with brushed aluminum accents
inside and out including the shifter, the dashboard, and the exhaust tips. Along with the external and internal
changes, the Bullitt is still unique under the hood with a custom Ford strut tower brace and cold air intake.
The GT500 still pushes hard against anything near its price bracket of under $45,000 with its massive performance
figures. At 500 horsepower and 490 lb-ft of torque, the GT500 beats many similar cars to 60 miles per hour, but we
expect the car to gain more power in the near future to stay competitive with the new breed of muscle cars hitting
the market. The exhaust note for the GT500 is still one of the best to ever come from the Mustang name with its deep
exhaust rumble followed by the high-pitched supercharger whine.
With the arrival of the Camaro and other higher-powered muscle car icons returning, we’re excited to see what Ford
chooses to do with the Mustang platform and name to stay at the top of the market. Until then, the Mustang is still
the American icon and full-blooded muscle car. With performance levels for any type of owner ranging from the basic
4.0L V6 through the 500 horsepower manual-only GT500 that keeps up with the likes of AMG and BMW’s M cars, the
Mustang has definitely ensured a powerful place in the market regardless of competition.
