2007 Ford Mustang Specs & Details
In 2007, Ford kept the Mustang true to its roots and then some. The reliable and throaty 4.6L V8 still powers the
Mustang through the 5-speed manual gearbox or automatic gearbox to the tune of 300 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of
torque. While the same performance figures have been prevalent since the current design debuted in 2005, the
Mustang
still feels powerful and aggressive across road courses around the country. While it still lacks stability
control,
the Mustang stays planted around corners at high speed as well as pulling hard down the drag strip.
The Mustang still sits as a great value for the enthusiast with its low cost of entry and relatively high
performance
for the money. The upgraded technology package brings Bluetooth connectivity and GPS while different appearance
packages like the California Special bring style and luxury both inside the car and outside. With the California
Special, the Mustang receives unique striping, new front valence, and rear diffuser in addition to larger brakes
to
work in tandem with the aerodynamic enhancements.
The big news for 2007 is the return of a legend for the first time in decades. The Shelby GT500 makes its return
to
the Mustang lineup after nearly 40 years to the tune of 500 horsepower and a manual-only 6-speed gearbox. The
GT500,
powered by Ford’s new 5.4 liter supercharged V8, sprints to a quarter-mile time of 12.9 seconds, faster than
nearly
anything else in its price point. The car receives a new and more aggressive front fascia and better-vented hood
to
aid in heat extraction. The car also receives a model-specific spoiler on the rear above the iconic Shelby
lettering. For a car as important as the GT500, no corners were cut in order to keep it true to the original
high-power Mustang Shelby GT500 from 1967 and as a result the GT500 is now a luxurious yet incredibly aggressive
bruiser on the track and the street.
This model year brought the first major update to the S197 Mustang since its debut in 2005, and what an update it
is.
With the addition of the Shelby to the lineup, the Mustang now covers three different markets across the
company.
The Mustang is now made for daily use, cruising or slight racing, and full-force high-performance driving, all
of
which are done in style and looking like only what the Mustang could ever be.
