2016 Ford Mustang Specs & Details
Buckle up, because the 2016 Mustang model year hit the ground in full force! The Mustang family welcomed a new
performance variant to the stable: the Shelby GT350 and Shelby GT350R. These power houses are sporting the
revolutionary 5.2L Ti-VCT V8 with a flat-plane crank. With Tremec’s TR-3650 6-speed manual transmission you get
total control over the 526 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque. Inside, you get access to Shelby's premium interior including
a redesigned racing wheel wrapped in alcantara and RECARO seats. The party doesn't stop there if you upgrade to the
GT350R you get carbon fiber wheels and a matching carbon fiber wing! Following the performance first rule, the GT350
and GT350R feature the MagneRide Damping System which adjusts the dampers up to 1,000 times per second to get the
most out of your Mustang.
The GT350 and GT350R was not the only wild new addition to the stable. The California Special trim package for the
2016 Mustang GT Premium was also released! This package features a beautiful new front grille featuring the pony
logo offset. Performance was not jettisoned either as the California Special also features a performance front air
splitter and raised decklid spoiler. Comfort was boosted as well featuring ebony leather-trimmed seats with suede
inserts. Other exciting packages were also released like the GT Black Accent Package available for the GT and GT
Premium. This was a great package for those who enjoy the black accents. It featured a black decklid spoiler,
blacked out badging and black painted wheels. It was the perfect combination of luxury and muscle car power!
Moving past new trims, Ford overhauled their SYNC system. Hands-free calling, voice-activated music commands, SYNC
AppLink, and many other benefits were added with SYNC 3. The tech upgrades didn't stop there. The 2016 model year
saw the implementation of a new speaker system and updates to safety features. Safety features like the Blind Spot
Information System which saw updated warnings and adaptive cruise control which was added as an available feature.
Another fun item that only 2016 Mustangs have is the turn signals integrated into the hood vents on GTs. This was
not the case for any other S550 Mustang model year, except 2016.
We did lose some things however the black color was traded out for Shadow Black which has a grey undertone but is
barely noticeable. We also lost the 50 Year Trim Package in both the EcoBoost and GT as the Mustang pushes towards
100 years.
