2015 Ford Mustang Specs & Details
Everything changed in 2015! We were introduced to a new generation of Mustang body style, the S550. This was a brand
new look from the older S197 generation going for a worldwide audience. The design includes long, steady lines up
front to a short and quick rear. The rear base was also made wider giving it a really mean and planted appearance.
The new design also saw the inclusion of LED headlights and accent lights as well as a revamp of the rear tailights.
The 2015 Mustang was not just for vanity, but it also achieved a lower coefficient of drag compared to the older
generation which helped not only its performance but also its efficiency.
The interior was also overhauled with better quality materials, comfortable seats, and a stunning new dash layout.
This coupled with some minute changes to the interior layout like a smaller center console gives the driver and
passenger more leg room. However, changes didn't stop there! The introduction to the S550 Mustang came with a new
technology overhaul inside and out that infused the Mustang with the latest technology like Ford’s SYNC voice
recognition system.
With this new body style, Ford introduced the next generation 5.0L Coyote engine. The Gen 2 Coyote which was the next
big step in horsepower. The engine got some pointers from the 2012-13 Boss 302 engine pushing it to 435 horsepower
and 400 lb-ft of torque. With efficiency in mind, Ford brought back the I-4 pattern to the Mustang family with the
EcoBoost. A 2.3L I-4 Turbo that gave the new model 310 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. The V6 also found its way into
one of the models completing the trio and putting out 300hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.
Aside from the obvious visible features, this new generation added a whole bunch of additional features for the high
octane user! The biggest was the Selectable Driving Modes which allowed you to change how the car ran on the fly!
Four modes were included in this feature Normal Sport+, Track, and Snow/Wet. This was well received by many drivers
because it allowed for you to fine tune how the car operated in varying conditions. Another feature included the
Track Apps which were turned up to eleven! Electronic Line Lock, G-force monitoring, and 0-60 MPH performance times
were all standard so you can push your Mustang to the max.
Ford went all in on the trim packages. The notable few is the EcoBoost Performance Package, and GT Performance
Package which gave you a great platform to build off of. Both packages included a larger radiator, bigger wheels,
Brembo brakes (GT-only), and specific Stability and ABS tuning for maximum track performance. One notable package
only found during the 2015 model year is the 50 Years Appearance Package which makes a statement on the road
borrowing parts from the 2015 50 Years Limited Edition Mustang. Including parts like a redesigned aluminum grill,
unique gas cap, aluminum dash panel, and special edition seats and door trim panel inserts.
The 2015 model year hit a lot of firsts for Mustang and with a 50 Year Anniversary a lot was reintroduced and
changed.
