1999 Ford Mustang Specs & Details
For 1999, Ford revamped the beloved SN95 generation of the Mustang, turning it into a fresh, sharp, and stylish coupe
that is ready to compete with refreshed models from Chevy, Pontiac, and various other affordable sports coupes. With
more power than previous models have offered within the last decade, the New Edge Mustang makes its case as a
well-appointed sports coupe or convertible in the American market, recapturing some of the Mustang’s old charm.
With the base model Mustang receiving major updates over the older SN95 models, the car has become a good option for
a daily driver around town while still driving the most iconic American coupe on the market. With 193 horsepower on
tap with the option of a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic, the V6 Mustang is the perfect daily to have while
having some fun around town at the same time. With comfortable seating materials and the curved dashboard, the
inside of the New Edge is a good place to be and ultimately to drive from.
For the GT model, Ford has made sure to bring extra power for the Mustang to be competitive against market rivals and
other competitors from around the world. The improved 4.6L 2-valve V8 is now putting out 260 horsepower, up
dramatically from the 225 horsepower found in the earlier SN95 body cars. With this, the Mustang now accelerates
from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a mere 5.4 seconds thanks to its 302 lb-ft of torque. The Mustang now puts down power
more effectively than any mainstream model has before. This is also accompanied by the incredible exhaust note from
the V8 which has been intoxicating the public since its debut in the Mustang.
If the 260 horsepower is not enough, Ford has upgraded the Cobra as well. The SVT Cobra now comes to the tune of 320
horsepower as a result of the reworked 4.6 liter 4 valve motor and is put to the ground by a controversial change to
the Mustang name. For the first time, the Cobra receives independent rear suspension which, while changing how the
ride of the car feels, massively improves the handling and makes putting the new 320 horsepower to the pavement even
easier. The Cobra as a result acts as an evolution of the Mustang name, building towards higher performance on the
racetrack as opposed to solely on the drag strip.
