1997 Ford Mustang Specs & Details
In 1997’s Mustang, the American icon was shown as a daily drivable muscle car that is good for both normal uses and
for fun. Similar to the 1996 model, the 1997 Mustang’s biggest noticeable draw outside of the motors and heritage is
the interior. With the large gauges, comfortable and sporty seats, and optional upgraded sound system, the Mustang
is as nice on the inside as it is on the outside. With a good interior and exterior, it’s no wonder the Mustang
outsells its rivals by a 2-to-1 margin.
The car only receives cosmetic changes for this year, having been fully redesigned in 1994 from the older Fox Body
style. Most of these changes come in the interior, where the double bubbled dash and two-tone coloring The seats get
improved support to make it even more enjoyable to drive. The Mustang also gets new interior color options, making
the inside an even nicer place to sit than ever before. From the driver’s seat, the driver’s view is clear and
uninterrupted, ensuring full visibility and control.
The Mustang still lags behind the Camaro noticeably, but still has more character and predictability than nearly any
other similarly priced coupe or convertible on the market. The tail end is easy to control and swings predictably
when pushed harder than average, and with more powerful motor options they continue to increase in ease of sliding.
With the SVT Cobra model, the car pushes out over 300 horsepower and still ensures that the driver knows exactly
what the wheels and the car are doing at all times.
Overall, the SN95 generation of the Mustang is proving to still give drivers the old-school muscle car feeling they
loved back at the start of the hot-rodding craze. Ease of access when working on the car paired with good
performance figures and usable ergonomics makes the Mustang the perfect car for a much larger demographic than ever
before. The Mustang has moved from a cruiser to a muscle car and now has become an even balance of both. We are
excited to see what else there is to come from the SN95 platform going forward, but for now, we are happy to have a
competent and engaging driver-focused Mustang in the market.
