During the early 1990s, Ford was at a significant crossroad amongst many models, including the legendary
Mustang. They knew quickly; it would be a pivotal time to make the correct responses to bring the
Mustang forward in terms of style, performance, handling, and design. During the previous generation
stallion, it went through a lot of changes through its 13-year run in terms of design. Launched with the
initiative to give the Mustang faithful a
more modern and technologically advanced during its time, the SN95 Mustang took lessons directly learned
from the last year of the 1993 Fox Body, Cobra, and Cobra R. As every Mustang from each generation has fantastic style, design, and performance, it can't be
anything without its diversity of color choices. For instance, take the 1965 Shelby GT350 and GT350R, it
is legendary for its Wimbledon White paint job that has stayed relevant through the tests of time.
Mustang
enthusiasts are a hard crowd to please, so each generation, Ford goes to extreme lengths to deliver on
new colors and choices to let individuals express their personalities.
Upon initial launch of the SN95 Mustang, fans everywhere were very excited about the all-new design
that steered in a new direction from the longest-running generation to date in the Fox Body Mustang. The
new pony featured a more elegant silhouette of curvy lines, broader rear quarters, and taillights
reminiscent of the original American pony car during the 1960s. Once more, the fastback profile was back
again, paying tribute to the 1965-1973 Mustang models. Pushing forward in technology and sophistication,
Ford knew they had to continue the success of the 1993 Cobra and Cobra R, which started a twenty-year
reign of Mustang performance that continues today. Just as every Mustang has delivered design language of fast, fun, and freedom, the SN95 continued this
legacy of
performance and engineering by offering a various amount of color to further enhance beauty
and design of what the Mustang has to offer. During the first two years, Ford introduced the latest
additions to the SVT lineup in the Cobra and Cobra R just as they did in 1993 when SVT was founded
inside of Ford Motor Company. Taking lessons learned from the infamous 93 Cobra, Mustang engineers and
designers knew it would be good to have colors such as Canary Yellow, Vibrant Red, and Crystal White
invigorate the Mustang faithful.
All of these colors helped push forward the design and taste of what the new Mustang could be. Below you will find a comprehensive list and detailed information on all of the colors throughout the
first four years of the SN95 Mustang.
Halfway through the fourth-generation Mustang, engineers and designers decided it would give the Mustang
a complete facelift to the already successful SN95 Mustang. In 1999, Ford unveiled the refreshed Mustang
to enthusiasts nationwide. Known today as the “New Edge” Mustang, this was a completely revolutionary
design the likes of which Mustang faithful had never seen before. Deriving from the SN95, the New Edge
uses the same chassis components and systems but with more modern technology and even more exceptional
performance than seen in previous years. Take the 2000 Cobra R; this was the most advanced
Mustang ever built to date. Using technologies such as racecar-like aerodynamics, independent rear
suspension, and an incredible performance 5.4L DOHC (Dual Overhead Camshaft) 5.4L V8, it truly showed
what Ford was capable of doing. To culminate this achievement, Mustang designers would introduce several signature colors to enhance the
form and function of what was already a fantastic step forward from Ford design. Some of these colors,
such as Oxford White, Competition Orange, Screaming Yellow, and Mysti-Chrome are just some of the colors
the New
Edge Mustang paid homage to past models, which set the trends forward all Mustangs to
come. Whether you're looking to do a color change, needing to fix rock chips on your bumper cover, or in
search
