2014 Ford Mustang Specs & Details
In the final year of the S197 generation Mustang, Ford wants to keep enthusiasts happy while also preparing them for
the next step in the icon’s evolution. With the final year of the solid rear axle, classic muscle car styling, and
the first generation Coyote V8, Ford is making sure that the much-loved S197 stepped out gracefully from the model’s
design. With slight updates for this final year of production, Ford is making sure the 2014 Mustang was the best it
could ever be of the S197 platform. New and updated technology rounded out the interior in many cars, while improved
limited slip differential setups and wheel designs keep the car relevant before bowing out later for the new S550
generation.
On the outside, the 2014 Mustang receives slight changes including painted mirror options across the board and new
wheel designs. The new 18-inch design help the Mustang stand out as much as ever, and but the Mustang goes largely
unchanged from 2013. On the inside of the 2014, the Mustang receives an improved sound system and optional
touchscreen in the center of the dashboard. This allows pairing with SYNC with AppLink and TrackApps in addition to
optional color-changing gauges.
Unfortunately, Ford has said the 5.8L Trinity V8 found in the GT500 will not be returning, nor will the GT500 moniker
at the end of the 2014 model year, but we’re hopeful that a suitable replacement will be coming in the 2015 model
year. Until then, the massive motor remains the most powerful factory engine in the Mustang outside of the Mustang
Cobra Jet drag car available through 2014 as well. With the Boss 302 discontinued before the 2014 year, the track
package Mustang GT and the Shelby GT500 are the best-performing models in the Mustang lineup currently.
With ultra-high-performance models being made for more exclusive clientele such as the Shelby 1000 and Super Snake,
the final year of the S197 is ready to go out with a bang. The 2014 is more customizable than ever before with
unique stripe or decal combos to make them exactly how you could want your Mustang to look. With this final year of
the Mustang, we’re looking forward to the next generation but the S197 will always be special to us as one of the
last Mustangs set up as an old-school muscle car.
