2013 Ford Mustang Specs & Details

Fresh out of a mild redesign, the 2013 Mustang receives a facelift both inside and out from the 2012 model year. With a newly styled front and rear end, the 2013 Mustang is more finely tuned than the 2012 model in terms of appearance. With LED outlines for the taillights, the rear end of the car looks sharper and more uniform with the lights flowing with the gloss black rear decklid. Around the front, the headlights now feature LED daytime running lights which incorporate the turn signals away from the actual headlights themselves. The bumpers have also been reworked with a more flat and extended design which makes the profile of the car look more appealing.

For the 2013 model year, the largest changes are on the external appearance. Still running the Coyote 5.0 V8 that debuted in 2011, the power has been turned up a bit to fit the new design’s appearance. The new look gets a slightly more aggressive exhaust note but that really is about all. The interior remains incredibly similar to the 2012 model with its clean display and sporty look. One internal change is the gauge faces changing to the same black as the rest of the dash as opposed to the backlit white faces in the previous model year.

The model to receive the largest change is the Shelby GT500 which gets an entirely new motor. While the previous model year received a 5.4 liter supercharged V8 capable of 550 horsepower which was more than enough in the body style. However, the new Trinity 5.8 liter supercharged V8 puts out a whopping 662 horsepower making it the most powerful road-going Mustang ever to be produced and available to buy at the time. With much wider rear tires to help put out this power in addition to optional Bilstein shocks, Torsen limited-slip differential, and launch control, the GT500 is now capable of over 200 miles per hour.

Outside of these minor changes, outside of the GT500, the 2013 Mustang remains largely the same as the 2012 model in terms of performance and most of appearance. With these tweaks, the 2014 Mustang is ready to take to the streets against the Camaro and Challenger at an all-new level both on the street and on the race track or drag strip while looking phenomenal doing so. With the new accents along the car, the 2013 Mustang looks fresher than ever and performs as well as it looks. Plus, with the Boss 302 and Laguna Seca still available for this year, the Mustang handles better than any other.
