McLeod's aluminum flywheel is a great upgrade for your T-5 manual transmission equipped 1986-1995 5.0L H.O. Mustang in lieu of refacing your old OE cast iron unit. It also comes complete with an all new steel 157 tooth ring gear ensuring proper starter pinion engagement and cranking on high compression motors.
Lightweight aluminum alloy. Unlike cast iron flywheels that can explode at high RPM's, McLeod's SFI certified aluminum American made flywheel is extremely tough and crack resistant. It is suitable for street and track use and especially suited for forced induction applications. With lower rotational mass, your car will accelerate quicker and be capable of higher engine RPM's.
50oz & 28oz balance weight. This flywheel comes with your choice of both weights and can be used on strokers as well stock configuration 5.0L H.O. motors equipped with a one piece main seal block.
SFI certified. Not only will this piece meet race sanction approval and keep you from getting kicked off the track, it can also prevent serious injury or even death due to a shattered flywheel. Considering the cost difference between this brand new unit and resurfacing your old, it is very cheap insurance.
6 bolt pattern. This flywheel is a direct fit for factory style crankshafts one-piece rear main seal motors released in 1986. It will not fit 302 or other small block Ford's with a two piece rear main seal.
157 tooth. Designed for V8 powered GT, LX and Cobra models, this 13-1/4" diameter unit mates to 10.5" diameter clutches rated to handle the torque of the 5.0L. It will not work on V6 or L4 engine configurations of any displacement nor is it intended for automatic transmission equipped fox body cars. A new flywheel is highly recommended to prevent starter issues on rebuilt high compression motors that might not have presented themselves on older or worn out motors with weaker compression.
