JoAnna Iacobelli's 2018 Drag Car
In the TeamSteeda family, we come from all different backgrounds with our racing. For some, likeYouTuber JoAnna Iacobelli - better known as That1320Chick - racing is literally in her blood. From a young age, JoAnna has been surrounded by racing since her parents were both drag racers in Michigan, and both drove Mustangs as well. With her parents raising her around the Mustang for years, as well as drag racing in general, it was almost a natural decision for her to go towards racing in her life. JoAnna is a valued member of the TeamSteeda family, and her YouTube and other online followings have given her an incredible reputation as a drag racer.
At a young age, JoAnna began working with cars, and after a few years has returned to the Mustang asa build platform that she and her husband work together on, in addition to other project Mustang builds. Currently, she and her husband, Bryan, are building an early SN95 Mustang into a restomod, including interior from the current generation Mustang and more power than ever before.
About JoAnna Iacobelli Q&A
How did you get into cars and racing?
I got into cars at a very young age. My dad used to bring me to the race track with him all the time, even when I was 2 years old.
What cars have you owned and/or raced?
My first racecar was a 2007 Mustang GT that I drove for a while. After that, I got a CTS-V sedan and used that for a while on YouTube. When I saw how usable and easy to modify theMustang is, I sold the CTS-V for the 2018 Mustang I have now. We also have an SN95 that we are Coyote-swapping currently.
What has this build been for you so far?
I bought this Mustang back in August of 2018 when I hadn't really had much interest in going back to the Mustang. When I saw how easy it was to modify them and to get big power from them, I decided to sell the CTS-V and a month later I found the Mustang in the spec I wanted. Obviously since then I've done tons of upgrades to it, making it faster and faster, and haven't looked back since buying it.
Have you attended any racing schools?
Actually, no, I never have. I want to though so I can get my NHRA license someday.
Suggestions for those who may want to get into racing but they’re not sure where to get started.
My best advice is to start simple and don't let anyone discourage you. I know that that can come off cliche but the reason I say that is because a lot of times I see people try to go 0 to 100 and end up not really learning a lot of the basics that they should. And to not let people discourage you because people are always going to try and bring you down. Do what you love and you'll never regret it!
