Hawk Performance's DOT 4 HP520 Brake Fluid is a better than OE high temperature formula with a minimum 500 F dry boiling point that can be used in most Ford vehicles that specify DOT 4 or lower grade such as DOT 3. It is an ideal fluid for street driven cars that run occasional track events. Due to it's higher boiling point, DOT 4 fluids are generally more moisture absorbent and should be flushed more frequently to avoid line corrosion and damage to expensive ABS system components. Recommended replacement is every two years for gently driven cars and every season for track driven cars, with bleeding until clear after every event. Though HP520 is a suitable replacement for DOT 3 fluid, it is not recommended to mix the two unless as a temporary measure in an emergency or to flush out old DOT 3 fluid. HP520 is not compatible with silicone based DOT 5 hydraulic brake fluids and should not be used on some newer cars.
