Consisting of different and highly competitive drag racing events around the country, the NMRA drag racing series includes is universally regarded as the #1 all-Ford drag racing circuit in the U.S. Despite tough competition in all six of the nine 2011 events already completed, the two top Steeda Autosports sponsored drivers in NMRA, John Urist and Chris Parisi are well on their way to another championship racing season for Steeda Autosports.
John Urist - Campaigning in the highly competitive Super Stang Outlaw class, John is definitely on his way to yet another championship in his Steeda and Nitto Tire sponsored Mustang. The NMRA race in Milan MIchigan proved to be quite a challenge for even the most seasoned racers due to record heat and rain delays. On Friday, there were a few rounds of test and tune followed by several rounds of qualifying before Mother Nature stepped in and forced everyone to call it a day. With drier weather on Saturday, John was lucky enough to be prepared for the track conditions and qualified #1 with a 7.21. But the rest of the field wasn't too far behind with the #2 qualifier running a very close 7.26 - just an indication of how competitive this class really is! In the ensuing rounds, John showed great consistency in his Steeda and Nitto sponsored Mustang as chalked up yet another win with a solid 7.34. With six of nine races in the books, John has chalked up 2385 series points against the second place driver's 1930.
Chris Parisi - Competing in the Super Stang class, Chris consistently finds himself in an extremely competitive racing environment with plenty excitement at every race. So far this season, it appears as if Chris is on track for a three-peat. He is leading his class and all indications are that he will once again take his Steeda sponsored and equipped Mustang into the winner's circle. With 2360 points chalked up to date and his nearest competitor trailing by a close 300 points, Chris will need to continue the string of victories to prevail, but he tells us that he is confident that his winning ways will continue Most people do not realize that when Chris isn't running at the dragstrip, he is actively involved in various charity events - proving to everyone that he is truly a winner both on and off the racetrack.
In particular, Chris has reached out to a group of special friends from the Arc Home in in St Augustine, Florida which provides services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Chris recognizes the great job that the Arc Home does, and realizes that exposure to drag racing can not only be great fun, but great therapy and an inspirational. Recently, Chris was able to obtain a tower suite at Gainesville Raceway for a group of 25 members of the Arc Home, and hosted them in their first exposure to the wild world of drag racing. Congratulations to Chris for his continuing charity efforts and for reaching out where he really can make a difference.
