It is only July, but Tom Ellis and his Steeda Mustang have already won the SCCA American Sedan Southeast Division Championship for the second year in a row. The Pompano Beach, Florida based Ellis has been dominant in 2006, with wins at Savannah, Road Atlanta, Daytona and Homestead. Along the way the Steeda equipped Mustang set class track records at Road Atlanta and Daytona. At Daytona Tom knocked two seconds of the previous best time recorded by an American Sedan.
While Tom in his third season of SCCA National competition garners the headlines he is quick to point out that winning the division two consecutive years takes teamwork. " I cannot thank my Crew Chief, Jose Carbonnell and the Steeda guys enough for the great job they do preparing the Mustang" Ellis stated. " The talented Steeda techs, Chad Coy and Sam Cory do an awesome job of preparing the car, it is always ready to go on race day" he continues. " At the track Jose makes sure everything is organized and runs smoothly, we have a great team and without all of them there would not be any victories, yet alone two divisional championships. We are looking forward to National Championship Runoffs this October 9-15 at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas" Ellis concluded.
