As has been the case for the last 32 years, the Mid -America Ford Performance and Shelby Meet was a huge success. The event is simply the best of its kind. Ford enthusiasts from over 30 states traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma to enjoy four days of open track action at the Hallett Motor Racing Circuit, cruise through Tulsa's historic district, a day of drag racing at Tulsa Raceway Park and a huge popular vote car show.
This year marked the tenth visit by Steeda Autosports to the meet and the company rolled out its 2006 Q525 and 2001 Q 400 for some serious track time and product development around the 2.1 mile Hallett road course. "We enjoy attending the Mid-America event, the organization is first rate and the people who participate are wonderful." says Dario Orlando, Steeda Founder and President. " Over the years we have been able to prove out our performance parts and our latest Steeda Q Mustangs at Hallett" he continues. This year Steeda unleashed the Q 525 with its 5.0L balanced and blueprinted engine and Magna Charger supercharger. In the 98 degree heat the car ran cool, as the new Steeda designed and engineered intercooling system performed perfectly. The original aftermarket system was not up to the task so Steeda created a new one. The results were most impressive with the system lowering the charge into the supercharger 60 degrees, resulting in a gain of 40 horsepower. The new system will complete testing and be ready for sale in the near future.
The Ford Motor Company has participated in the event every year since 1982 and this time brought the new and exciting GT500 coupe and convertible. True to their heritage the cars performed well on the Hallett road course. Driven by keynote speaker, Bob Adams, Manager Ford Global Autoshows and Concept vehicles a GT500 led the cruise to the Brookside section of Tulsa. Also attending and working the event were Ford Division Car Group Marketing Manager, Robert Parker, Jim Owens, Mustang Marketing Manager and GT500/Ford GT Marketing Manager, John Alguire.
Mark your calendars now for the June 14-17, 2007. This is one event all Ford enthusiasts should attend. Steeda Autosports will return with some new and exciting products.
